I think I am finally comfortable with my dream life.  I shall enjoy my life at my Italian vineyard.

365 Days of Music:
A farewell to songs.

It is with a heavy heart and tired mind that I must admit temporary defeat to 365 Days of Music. There has a been a song for me, as always, every day. Yet finding the time to even post it seems to be too much in this hectic time. Hopefully this will be a mere hiatus and temporary interim before I can again lead those seeking to a bastion of music. Until then, I lay down my hat in submission and leave this song for those willing to find some solace.

Rachmaninov’s Vespers — Blessed is the Man

I first heard this song, and the Vespers, and Rachmaninov with my oldest sisterLindsey Carter at a concert in a Roman Catholic cathedral. It was performed by the Indiana Symphonic Choir. We had nearly front row seats and sat anxiously as we watched what was probably 100 members pile onto the temporary bleachers in front of us. Silence filled the room as they settled in, open their folders, and the conductor greeted them with a silent smile and tilt of his head. At the flick of a wrist, a burst of the most powerful harmony I have ever heard in my life filled the entire cathedral and rang out from the walls as their voices began to build and mix with the complex piece. I sat in awe for the entire concert and encourage you to enjoy this small piece. Maybe it will be good to play in the background or maybe you’ll hear it once and move on. Then again, you might be like me and begin to explore his other pieces and fall in love with his works.

Until next time, listen and be happy.
William

I am going to start signing everything I write with “silver pharaoh” to see how long it takes before people start calling me it.

Respectfully,
